Serving in Worship

Ushers
Four ushers are needed for each service. Participants are asked to commit for one month, and women, youth and families are welcome to usher.

Acolytes
Students 11 years old and up serve as acolytes in worship. Training is offered frequently.
Acolytes light and extinguish the altar candles, carry the processional cross, receive the gifts
of bread, wine, and money, and serve apple slices during communion.

Altar Guild
The Altar Guild is responsible for the care of the sanctuary, preparing the altar for Holy
Communion, hanging appropriate paraments and banners for festivals and the changing
seasons of the church year.

Assisting Ministers
Lead the prayers of intercession, offering prayer and post-communion
prayer, distribute the elements during communion and offer the dismissal as the worship ends.
Sign up in the narthex.

Musicians
Play an instrument during a service. See the Worship and Music team, the
pastor or the music directors.

Lectors
Those with a gift for public speaking or those who enjoy reading aloud read the first and
second lessons and Psalm on Sundays during the service. A sign-up sheet is located in
the narthex.

the Annual Meeting and committee members serve for three years.
